Magma bubbles and churns 
The once majestic mountain’s 
— Stomach

Sulfuric plumes 
Rise
          Fall
                  Smother

Convenient lives
Convenient lies
The mountain is not 
— Olympus

The heads of Cerberus
Devour
              Spew
                           Reek
Tartarus’ jaws have always,
Been open

The mountain laughs
At the prisoner
Who stands at its base
Digging trenches 
With a melting spoon

Tears sizzle
Flesh boils
Soul burns
A Plaster husk
— remains
